
SOLO, CENTRAL JAVA, INDONESIA, OCTOBER 10, 2026: Volunteers collect and sort waste trapped by a trash boom installed in the Premulung River in Joyontakan, Solo, as part of the Sungai Lestari program aimed at reducing river pollution and strengthening community-based waste management. The initiative, involving UNDP Indonesia, the Bina Karta Lestari Foundation and the Joyo Gumregah community group, conducts waste collection three times a week, with organizers saying between 80 and 100 kilograms of waste is collected during each operation.
