Heavy Rain Triggered Widespread Flooding Across Bangkok

BANGKOK, THAILAND – SEPTEMBER 27, 2026: Heavy rain caused widespread flooding across Bangkok, affecting residents, businesses and communities across the capital. The Thai Meteorological Department attributed the rainfall to a low-pressure system over the Central region combined with the southwest monsoon, with further rain expected through September 27. Bangkok authorities declared all 50 districts disaster-affected areas and deployed pumps, shelters and emergency teams to assist affected residents and drain accumulated floodwater. By Sunday, water levels had begun to recede in some areas, although flooding persisted in several low-lying communities as authorities continued monitoring water levels and providing assistance.
