BARCELONA, SPAIN, OCTOBER 7, 2026: Social services workers march through Barcelona demanding improved working conditions, equal pay and a single collective bargaining agreement for the sector. The demonstration proceeded from Parc de la Ciutadella to the headquarters of Catalan employers' association Foment del Treball. Organizing unions say the sector, which provides services to around two million people, is currently covered by 17 separate collective agreements and faces precarious working conditions and stalled negotiations over their renewal.
