MADRID, SPAIN, OCTOBER 3, 2026: Tens of thousands of people march through Madrid during a major demonstration demanding lower rents, stronger protections against evictions and expanded access to affordable housing. Protesters converged on Plaza de Cibeles from four separate routes during the mobilization called by the Madrid Tenants' Union and other housing groups, a day after Spain's parliament rejected two government housing decrees. Demonstrators also called for a general strike over the country's housing crisis. Photo by C. Carvajal / JNA Press. (Photo by C. Carvajal/JNA Press via Nexpher Images)
