KATHMANDU, NEPAL, OCTOBER 11, 2026: A Hindu priest and Nepal Army personnel sow Jamara seeds during a Ghatasthapana ceremony marking the beginning of Dashain, Nepal's biggest Hindu festival, in Kathmandu. During the traditional ritual, barley and other grains are planted and kept away from sunlight to produce yellow shoots known as Jamara, which are later offered with tika as blessings during Bijaya Dashami. The 15-day Dashain festival began across Nepal as communities in Gorkha district faced disruption following severe flash flooding. Photo by Safal Prakash Shrestha / JNA Press.
