
PAMPLONA, NAVARRE, SPAIN, SEPTEMBER 14, 2026: Relatives of Jesús Esteban Muñoz and Gerardo Gómez Lorenzo receive their remains during a ceremony at the Rozalejo Memory and Coexistence Centre in Pamplona. The two men were killed in 1937 after escaping from the San Cristóbal prison fortress during the Spanish Civil War. Their remains were recovered during exhumations in 2017 and 2018 and later identified through the Government of Navarre’s DNA database.
