Salvini names Sardone as Lega candidate for Milan mayor

PONTIDA, BERGAMO, ITALY, SEPTEMBER 20, 2026: Lega leader Matteo Salvini addresses supporters during the party’s annual rally in Pontida, in the province of Bergamo. During the gathering, Salvini announced Silvia Sardone as Lega’s candidate for mayor of Milan ahead of the 2027 municipal election. Sardone said she was prepared to take part in a center-right primary to determine the coalition’s eventual mayoral candidate.
