These terms apply when you license video clips, packages, or related audiovisual Content designated or sold as Editorial. They apply in addition to the Standard License Terms. For commercial or advertising use of footage, see Commercial Videos.
2. Editorial use only
Use is limited to describing, illustrating, or commenting on newsworthy, cultural, historical, educational, or documentary subjects.
You may not use Editorial Videos in advertisements, advertorials, sponsored content that promotes a product or service, marketing collateral, or packaging.
Model, property, music, trademark, and other clearances may be incomplete. You are responsible for clearances required for your End Use unless we expressly warrant otherwise in writing.
Captions, metadata, and credits must not be altered in a way that misrepresents the facts of the event or subjects depicted.
3. Video and footage rules
Sync, broadcast, streaming, and on-air use require a License Tier or custom agreement that expressly includes those media (typically Extended Editorial or a negotiated broadcast agreement).
You may edit for length, pacing, and technical delivery, but you may not distort the factual meaning of the footage or remove required credits where mandated.
Music, third-party graphics, logos, or other elements appearing in footage are not cleared for your End Use unless expressly stated.
Resolution (e.g. FHD / UHD) and clip vs package delivery follow the product purchased. Social Basic is not offered for video.
Public performance, theatrical, and paid advertising uses require commercial or specially negotiated rights under Commercial Videos.
4. License tiers (video)
Permitted and restricted lists shown on pricing, asset, and checkout pages are part of these terms for the tier you purchase. Commercial advertising is excluded from all editorial tiers.
4.1 Social Media Editorial
Digital-only, non-commercial editorial use on social platforms.
Not for print, broadcast/streaming beyond social platforms, advertising, or redistribution.
4.2 Standard Editorial
Digital and publication editorial use for news and features as stated on the product.
Broadcast / streaming typically requires Extended Editorial or a custom upgrade.
Not for commercial advertising, packaging/branding, or sublicensing.
4.3 Extended Editorial
Includes Standard Editorial scope plus non-commercial editorial broadcast, streaming, books/textbooks, and exhibition display as stated on the product.
Still excludes commercial advertising campaigns, packaging/branding, and redistribution for profit unless separately licensed.
4.4 Custom / Tailored
Rights are only those defined in your custom package, quote, or written agreement.
Any use outside that agreed scope is prohibited. Sub-licensing requires our prior written consent.
5. Asset-specific restrictions
Extra restrictions shown on a video page are binding for that asset and override conflicting general language to the extent they are stricter.
