Fish die as Albania reservoir level drops

KASHARAJ, LUSHNJE, ALBANIA, SEPTEMBER 29, 2026: Large numbers of dead fish are seen at the Kasharaj Reservoir near Lushnje after its water level was drastically lowered during rehabilitation works on the reservoir's main outlet. Local media reported that the reduced water level left fish stranded in shallow pools and mud, resulting in widespread mortality. The reservoir is used to supply water for agricultural irrigation in the surrounding area.
