MADRID, SPAIN, OCTOBER 7, 2026: Hundreds of demonstrators gather in central Madrid following the death of Maricarmen Abascal, an elderly woman whose eviction from her longtime home sparked widespread housing protests across Spain. Abascal, who was in her eighties, had been evicted after her apartment was acquired by a real estate investment fund.
